2021 GREEN SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION
The demand for sustainability professionals is growing and we recognize the barriers recent graduates face affording post-secondary education. In order to prepare our future workforce with quality education, Keep Rutherford County Beautiful (KRCB) is offering a $1,200 2021 Green Scholarship this Spring! The scholarship award may be granted to any Rutherford County High School graduate that is engaged in pursuing a ‘green’ or eco-oriented undergraduate degree. This is for both 2- and 4-year programs.
Submissions are due by April 30th, 2021. The KRCB Scholarship Committee will select the award recipient in May 2021.
To apply, complete the scholarship application form and submit all required items here OR to KeepRCNCBeautiful@RutherfordCountyNC.govby 5pm on April 30th, 2021. The scholarship recipient will be awarded directly. $600 in July with proof of enrollment in Fall classes; then $600 in December with proof of enrollment in Spring classes.
SUMMARY OF SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS

Pursuing a Eco-Oriented Undergraduate Major. This includes but not limited to sustainable agriculture; marine sciences; renewable energy; environmental science, architecture, engineering, health services and law; wildlife ecology; and horticulture. The program can be completed in 2- or 4- years.

Submit the scholarship application

Overall GPA of 3.0 or higher Photocopies of your transcript are acceptable, if transcript is signed by a guidance counselor or principal

Submit a short personal essay that demonstrates your interest in environmental practices 500 words recommended

At least 20 hours of Community Service with us or other like organizations Must either be documented on paper or digital with sponsor verification

Proof of FAFSA application Submit a record of application. Do not submit the application itself.

Letter of Recommendation Your sponsor can email their letter to or upload it below

In early May, top 3 candidates post a 2-4 minute video (You will be contacted personally in May if you must complete this step)

Video should be creative and video comments and number of likes will be taken into consideration.
