2026 Green Scholarship Winner Announced

Keep Rutherford County Beautiful (KRCB), a local environmental and beautification nonprofit organization and affiliate of Keep America Beautiful, is thrilled to announce the recipient of the 2026 Green Scholarship. Each year, the scholarship aims to support graduating seniors who demonstrate exceptional commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainability.
Delaney Kinter, a senior at Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy (TJCA), has been awarded the $1,200 Green Scholarship. Delaney has shown remarkable dedication to environmental conservation both in and out of the classroom at TJCA.
From cleaning up our rivers after Hurricane Helene to being president of Envirothon Club, this year’s recipient has demonstrated outstanding leadership, strong academic achievement, and a proven commitment to environmental responsibility. Delaney plans to pursue studies in Environmental Science Research at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and help lead the world toward a more sustainable future.
"Delaney is well-rounded and has demonstrated success in a variety of life’s offerings. She is involved in Envirothon as well as other community service activities directed toward sustainability and environmental responsibility. She is currently working on a garden to raise awareness of biodiversity," says Mr. Emory at Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy.
Casse McFarland, a senior at East Rutherford High School, has been awarded the $500 Green Scholarship. Casse is a tri-sport athlete who has earned numerous athletic honors, demonstrating not only talent but also discipline, resilience, and leadership. Beyond athletics, she has been actively involved in multiple clubs, while also working and volunteering throughout her high school career—commitments that reflect her strong work ethic and genuine desire to contribute to her community.
Casse plans to pursue studies in Civil Engineering at Catawba Valley Community College and help lead the world toward a more sustainable future."She is motivated to pursue a career that can positively impact the environment and contribute to sustainable solutions for the future," says Ms. Hutchins at Sunshine Elementary.
